Santa Maria Valley Genealogical Society & Library

Thank you for your interest in the Santa Maria Valley Genealogical Society & Library.  Established in 1968, SMVGS is one of the oldest community-based genealogical societies in California.

SMVGS meetings are held at 2:00 pm on the third Thursday of the month from January through June and September through November.  At our monthly meetings we have informal sharing and informative programs concerning various aspects of genealogical research.  Our members range from beginners in need of guidance to advanced researchers who are happy to share their experience.

The research books belonging to this organization are currently housed at the Santa Maria Public Library where they are mixed into the shelves with the Public Library's own collection.  Our members volunteer by appointment through the Public Library at 805-925-0994.  October is National Family History month when SMVGS sometimes creates a display in the Library lobby window.

If you would like to support the work that our group is doing, we would very much like to have you join us.  Annual membership fee is Individual $15, or Family $25.  Please complete the enclosed membership application and return it by mail or at our next meeting.

We look forward to having you as a member of the Santa Maria Valley Genealogical Society.  Please email if you have any questions.
